The Grand ChartbookTM is the first set of nautical-style charts ever published for Grand Lake. It divides the lake into 12 sections, with a detailed small-scale chart for each section patterned after government ocean navigation charts.

The Grand Chartbook has many big advantages over folding maps:
(1) It's Easy to Use — The spiral-bound flipbook format and thick paper stock allows it to be used with one hand aboard the boat, relatively immune to the wind. You can use the charts as you drive the boat! (It is coated with a water-resistant film that helps protect the chart from the elements, yet still allows it to be written on if desired.)
(2) It's Easy to Understand — using aerial photographs to supplement the chart data, and avoiding too many "contour" depth lines that clutter the chart beyond usability. (One contour line shows the dividing line between shallow and deep water.)
(3) It Shows the Real Lake! — The existing "folding maps" for Grand are way out of date. Just compare how they portray the northern end of Grand Lake with how the Grand Chartbook portrays it on Chart 12 to see the difference. The shallow parts of the lake have filled in greatly in the last several decades, yet only the Chartbook shows this accurately, using data from its survey completed in 2004.

Plus, each chart page is supplemented with an Info page of aerial photos, advice and marine facility listings which give the user an "unsurpassed level of navigation and boating safety information." (Dave Neel, U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary).
